AI Discoverability Checker
See whether AI answer engines - ChatGPT, Perplexity, Copilot, Gemini - can find and cite your site. We audit your robots.txt AI-crawler policy, sitemap.xml and llms.txt, and grade it A to F. No login.
Enter your domain to audit its AI discoverability. We read only public files (robots.txt, sitemap.xml, llms.txt) - nothing is stored.
About the AI Discoverability Checker
AI answer engines - ChatGPT, Perplexity, Microsoft Copilot, Google's AI Overviews - increasingly answer questions by reading and citing web pages. Whether they can use your site is largely controlled by a few public files, and most sites have never checked them. This free tool audits them and grades your AI discoverability A to F.
The most important signal is your robots.txt AI-crawler policy. There is a crucial distinction most people miss: training crawlers (GPTBot, Google-Extended) only affect whether your content trains models - blocking them is a valid choice and does not hurt citations. Answer-engine crawlers (OAI-SearchBot, PerplexityBot, Bingbot) are what decide whether you appear in AI answers. We report the two groups separately so you can block training while staying citable. We also check your sitemap.xml (which feeds the Bing/Google indexes AI engines draw on) and validate llms.txt (optional, informational).
Frequently asked questions
What is AI discoverability?
Whether AI answer engines (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Copilot, Gemini) can crawl, read and cite your website. It is controlled mainly by your robots.txt AI-crawler policy, plus signals like a sitemap and llms.txt.
Does blocking AI training crawlers hurt my citations?
No. Blocking GPTBot, Google-Extended and similar only opts your content out of model training. Whether you are cited in AI answers is controlled by the separate answer-engine crawlers (OAI-SearchBot, PerplexityBot, Bingbot). This tool reports the two groups separately, so you can opt out of training and still be cited.
Is llms.txt required?
No. llms.txt is an optional, emerging convention with limited adoption by the major AI engines today. We validate it for future-proofing, but it does not affect your grade. The graded signals are your robots.txt AI-crawler policy and your sitemap.
Do you store the sites I check?
No. We fetch only public files (robots.txt, sitemap.xml, llms.txt, ai.txt) server-side and return the result. Nothing is stored.
Want help getting found by AI?
We help businesses become discoverable and citable by AI answer engines - the technical setup plus the content and authority that gets you cited. If this check surfaced gaps, we can fix them.
